The plan addresses a number of challenges facing society at the same time. We are not just facing the challenge of climate change but also the corona crisis.

“As a trade union, it is our responsibility to make sure that the green transition creates more good jobs. To do so we need an extraordinary focus on the involvement of workers”, says Bente Sorgenfrey.

Workers involvement will help to reduce green house gasses

Our data demonstrates that Danish workers are confident that the green transition will have a positive effect on their work lives.

Moreover, it demonstrates that involvement of workers will not only help improve health and safety at work, but also help workplaces to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Far too often workers are left out of the equation in the design of climate proposals.

Far too often legislators seem to forget that without workers none of the green solutions will see the light of day.

“With our proposal for a climate plan we are dealing with the important role of workers and trade unions in the green transition”, says Bente Sorgenfrey.

The global challenge of climate change stretches far beyond our own, national reductions. We need international cooperation and solutions, and we need international focus on the important role of workers in the green transition.
