Already Friday, FH appealed to the Russian Confederation (FNPR) to use their influence towards President Putin in hope of this would help to stop the war against Ukraine.

Instead, FNPR released a statement supporting the invasion and the decision of Putin to conduct an operation to “denazify Ukraine”. FNPR is using the same phrasing as Putin.

Their statement ends with the words “Hitler and Zelensky come and go, but the international solidarity of working people remains. Peace to the nations! War on the National Fascists!”

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is outrageous, and it is against the entire foundation of international cooperation. It has also huge consequences for the Ukrainian people now facing a true catastrophe.

“The statements are irreconcilable with being a member of the international community of workers, ITUC (International Trade Union Confederation).

Therefore, we present FNPR with the following ultimatum; Either they withdraw their statements and distance themselves from the invasion, or they must be suspended from the international professional organizations of which they are members. I expect the rest of the ITUC can agree to this”, Lizette Risgaard states.

The President of FH, Lizette Risgaard marks the Russian evasion of Ukraine as a violation of international law, and a clear attack against the fundamental democratic values.

“The Russian invasion of Ukraine is outrageous, and it is against the whole foundation of international cooperation. It has also huge consequences for the Ukrainian people now facing a true catastrophe”, Lizette Risgaard states.
