From 1 July to 31 December 2025, Denmark will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union – a central and highly responsible role that places Denmark in a leading position within EU cooperation for six months.
This means that Danish ministers and civil servants will be tasked with chairing meetings and leading negotiations among EU member states when ministers meet in the Council. Denmark will also represent the Council in its dialogue and negotiations with other EU institutions, including the European Commission and the European Parliament.
The Presidency gives Denmark the opportunity to help shape which issues are prioritised and how they are weighted within the Council – within the framework of the European Commission’s 2025 Work Programme, which forms the basis for the political agenda during the Presidency period.
Workers’ Rights on the Agenda
For FH, the Danish Presidency is an important opportunity to strengthen Denmark’s position within the EU and to emphasize Danish core values, including particularly the Danish labour market model and cooperation between the social partners.
At FH, we work to ensure that the Danish Presidency places workers’ rights and working conditions high on the agenda when European leaders gather with Denmark at the head of the table.
We believe that it is crucial to secure proper working conditions and a well-functioning social dialogue as the EU prepares to strengthen European competitiveness.
Therefore, FH aims to focus on free and fair mobility, quality jobs, skills, and a well-functioning social dialogue when Denmark takes over the EU presidency.
FH looks forward to actively following and contributing to a successful Danish Presidency focused on dialogue, cooperation, and common European solutions that respect national labour market models.
