During the past two years, a joint political LO-FTF steering group has prepared a proposed foundation for a new central organisation.

The steering group concluded its work in December 2017.

Both congresses will be held on 13 April and they will decide whether to establish one new, joint central organisation as of 1 January 2019.

– The unions and the General Council in LO have had a good debate on the foundation underlying a new central organisation.

I think we have established a strong basis for making the decision on whether to establish a new central organisation for workers in Denmark, says LO?s President, Lizette Risgaard.

– This is a historic opportunity for the trade union movement.

Danish workers will have a very strong voice – with a vision of solidarity and a powerful organisation, says FTF-President, Bente Sorgenfrey
